What’s Here

Welcome to the St. Andrew’s Oregon Hill Blog.  In September 2010, St. Andrew’s started this site to reflect on our experiences of reading or re-reading the Gospel of Mark together.  Our hope was that by reading it, studying it, reflecting on it, talking about it, and praying with it, we would come to a deeper understanding of the story of Jesus and what it means for us today.  We have since expanded this blog to reflect more generally our experiences of the presence of God in and through our life as a community of faith.

Most submissions fall into one of the following categories:

  • The Gospel of Mark
  • Circle of Peace School-Uganda (a primary school in Kampala, Uganda, with which we have an ongoing relationship)
  • Grace-on-the-Hill (an Episcopal Service Corps ministry for young adults hosted by St. Andrew’s Church)
  • St. Andrew’s School (our partner private elementary school for children from families with limited financial resources)

Jesus said the poor will always be with us, and he probably would be willing to expand that statement to include injustice, which will always be with us.
Making smooth the path of the Lord has more to do with working out the difficult terrain of my human heart. It is there that I prepare a place for God to enter and be enthroned.

My comment belongs with the blog “Lectio: Mark 1.” I suppose that it is obvious that I am having my first experiences with blogging, so I’m a bit slow learning the process.
